Since we've moved, Colin has not played one game of soccer!
Alas, I am still a "soccer widow", now it's to the Portland Timbers.
All of us decked out in Timber Green.
Most of the games are evening ones, so Harry and I usually stay home. But the young man has been to one game and I think he will be a fan too.
Case in point.
The "Timber's Army" are the proud and vociferous fans of the Timbers. They even have a Wikipedia page! They also have many chants they belt out during the entire game. With conductors and everything. (I obviously don't get it or I would be a staunch fan, not a "widow".) One of these chants is "No Pity in the Rose City (one of Portland's nicknames). A week or so after the three of us went to a game, Harry commented on one of the many rose murals painted on buildings around the city. I told him Portland's nickname and HE started chanting "No Pity in the Rose City!" I don't think Colin could have been prouder...
