Harry received a train table from "Santa" for Christmas. Colin and I were quite excited to see Harry's expression when he saw it. And I think Colin may have been a bit excited to play with it too... We set it up in the living room with the tracks all assembled, the train driving around, some of the little people and their cars driving about, and the bulldozer pushing some of Harry's polished rocks around the construction site...
When Harry walked in he was very suspicious with the whole set-up however. He slowly walked over to the table and noticed that his toys were already there. And then he preceeded to take his rock collection off the table.
Me: "Harry, what are you doing?"
Harry: "These rocks are mine. They don't belong here."
Colin: "Santa brought the train for you, it's all yours."
Harry: "Santa shouldn't touch my rocks. They're mine."
So hear this Santa, you'd better ask before you play with other kids toys. Or you'll get placed on the naughty list.
In the end, it all worked out. Harry believes that the table is his. And the rocks are allowed on the table, but only if he puts them there.
