From the drizzly skies of Portland, we headed to sunny Mexico after less than a week at home.
After a brief communication breakdown at the car rental place (they thought we were only mildly interested in a car seat when we requested, and paid, for it) and a quick over night in San Jose del Cabo, with chips, salsa and beer on the patio while Harry slept in the room, we were back at the hotel Colin and I stayed in on our honeymoon. First time back to our time share in 12 years...
The hotel, which will remain nameless for I don't want you to get harangued by the myriad of time share "hosts" lurking in every corner, is at the Marina in Cabo San Lucas.
A great location for shops and restaurants. Also, if you are interested in fishing trips, glass-bottom boat tours, bracelets (only a dollar for you, amigo!), hats, dolls, and these uber-annoying turtle shaped whistles being warbled and any given hour of the day, this is the place for you. If I wanted to buy cheap crap from China, shouldn't I go to China?!?! This, however is not my idea of a good time, hence, why I haven't been back in 12 years.
Luckily it was easy to remedy most days by staying poolside with a "Carrie Special" Margarita. Since tequila is cheaper than water in CSL, a quick stop at the grocery store for limes, pinapple, triple sec (or some derivative thereof) and tequila. And, Edgar, I know you will be horrified, but I used "sipping" tequila instead of "mixing" tequila.
Why would I risk a tequila sunrise hangover when I can buy a bottle of Coralejo, Don Julio or 1800 for next to nothing! And yes, I bought a litre bottle of each; only two made it back province-side.
Yes Colin, I am horrified at that thought. On the other hand, if it's cheaper than water, why not? Hangovers are easy to cure (arguably) but cholera is not ;-)
Sorry I missed you guys in Portland, hope to see you three soon!
