Everyone loves brownies. And if you don't there must be something seriously wrong with you. While I do have a favorite brownie recipe I'm always up to try another. So when I saw "Brownie Points" by Lisa Slater in the library, I snatched that up in a hurry.
This book pays the deepest homage to the sinfully decadent square and all things you would like to eat with said square (fudge and butterscotch sauces, glazes and ganaches). And it pushes the envelope of "browniedom" with cookies, cakes, muffins and bread.
I started with the "Classic" recipe and spiced it up, literally. Here's the recipe straight out of the book...

We are entered in a Chili Cook-off this coming weekend, so I thought I would make these as my "bribes" for the judges.
I took the classic recipe and added chopped pecans and chocolate nibs to the batter. Once the brownies were cooled I slathered them in a chocolate glaze with bourbon and cayenne peppers (it's really good). And if that wasn't enough, I topped each morsel with a Sweet and Spicy Pecan. Oh. My. God.
I don't know if they will last...
